HOW WE GET YOU THERE

Our experience tells us this:
  • You simply must obtain a proper understanding about divorce before you try to negotiate your settlement.
  • Speedy resolution produces far superior financial, emotional and life outcomes.

We designed our programme around these two core requirements.

We aim to get you to a settlement within 90 days, and some of you within 21 days. Our method is structured but flexible, because each couple's situation, needs and attitudes differ.

There are 3 main steps:

STEP 1. NARROWING THE GAP ("Know the rules of the game")

Picture
The crucial first phase is Narrowing the Gap between you, with proper information. We take you through what you need to know about divorce before you try to negotiate separation arrangements with your partner.

We teach you what you need to know by a combination of direct plain talking plus some easy online videos, which you watch on your desktop computer, or your laptop or tablet or smartphone.

We're straight to the point. No beating about the bush or vague answers which leave you confused and uncertain. When we use the tutorials, they are short and clear, so you can watch them when it’s convenient for you - after dinner with a cup of tea (or a glass of wine), on the bus or train (with earphones of course), during your lunchtime, whenever.

Our tutorials are presented by divorce experts and by regular men and women, mums and dads, who’ve been through divorce or separation. Here's some of what you'll learn:

DIVORCE OUTCOMES

You'll learn what the law is, where it’s black and white and where it’s gray. You’ll learn about the normal ranges on financial splits and parenting arrangements.

You’ll see the actual outcomes for today’s Australian men and women when they separate. So you’ll know which of your hopes and expectations - and your partner’s - are reasonable (and which are based on fanciful ideas).

YOUR FINANCIAL FUTURE
A key step in the process is sorting out your financial affairs.

Where needed, we create models of your current and potential future financial scenarios.

This helps greatly by giving proper context when you start reaching agreement with your partner about money - and children if you have any.

OTHER COUPLES’ STORIES
You’ll hear real stories of other couples who have divorced - the arrangements they made, and how they got to those decisions.

Reflecting on those outcomes helps you get clearer about your situation. And you’ll see there is often more than one possible solution that could work for both of you.

DESIGN YOUR FUTURE
When you are well-informed about the legal, financial, practical and emotional dimensions of divorce, then you know what are reasonable expectations. Certainly, this will have “narrowed the gap” between your views.

It's time to apply techniques to bridge any remaining gaps between your views. We’ll show you how to design practical solutions that enable you to move forward, and how those arrangements can evolve - amicably - as things change.

STEP 2. GETTING TO YES

Picture
At this point, you may well have reached an agreement directly - many couples do. If so, congratulations.

But sometimes you may need some help. So if needed, we'll assign you one of our outstanding family negotiators and mediators.

This is not "court-appointed mediation", which rarely succeeds. This is mediation between well-informed and focused couples, guided by a fully-briefed and highly skilled professional who is adept at finding fair compromise solutions you can both live with, so you can move forward with your lives.

STEP 3. DOCUMENTATION

Now you’ll be in wrap-up stage. We’ll document your agreement in an appropriate form. Often that means Parenting Plans and Financial Agreements. If needed, we can turn these into Court Orders for you. We’ll explore the rationale for each option.

And if you need an application for a divorce certificate, we’ll prepare that for you, too.

ALL AT YOUR CONVENIENCE

You'll find that at Divorce Partners we organise everything to maximise your convenience.

We don’t see the need for you to traipse into our offices at every step. You each have enough to handle right now, without having to get dressed up to drive to offices, find parking, and sit in uncomfortable seats in clinical meeting rooms. Or wait weeks for a telephone call.

Instead (wherever we can), we use phone, email and the web to deliver and exchange information with you.

And we use video-conferencing when it’s appropriate, so your divorce settlement can progress from the convenience of your home, or your office, wherever and whenever suits you best. Indeed, some couples prefer not to be in same room as each other, so we can accommodate that easily.

Get on your new life track within days. Call us on 1300 975 994 for a free consultation.  We're available from 7am to 9pm, 7 days a week.

Or click here to tell us what time best suits you to chat in the next few days.
